Encouragement by Live Original
Oh, friends. Our hearts are heavy this morning with the news of the tragic mass shooting that took place in Las Vegas last night. We don’t understand why this has happened, but we are putting our hope in the only place we can find it during times like this – in the Lord alone. When our words are few, the best thing we can do is go to God’s word to fill in the gaps for us. Here are some verses to meditate on while praying over the victims, families, friends and everyone affected during this heartbreaking time.
“When I am afraid, I put my trust in You.” Psalm 56:3
“Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.” Psalm 23:4
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.” John 14:27
“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” Psalm 46:1
“I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world, you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” John 16:33
"The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit." Psalm 34:17-18
Lord, we need you. We place our trust in you. Tragedy continues to hit hard, and it’s so easy for us to become fearful. Help us to place our trust in you when evil tries to prevail. We know evil will not win. You conquered death and the grave to give us victory. Help us to cling to that promise, to never forget that You are good – even when times are not. We pray for everyone affected directly during this horrible event, Father. We pray that your peace would surpass all understanding. We love you, Lord. We put our trust in you.
